We also use PET bottles for our other product lines and for storing essential oils and other household needs. Your product is shipped in a brand new PET bottle. Recycling this bottle is a great thing for the environment and I think about this every Tuesday morning when the recycling guys pick up our bin at the house. Reusing the bottles is also great because it delays the need to recycle and takes the place of buying another bottle. We pour some 70% isopropyl alcohol (from any pharmacy or discount store) into the bottle, swish around. Then squirt a little through the top if the top has an opening to flush out any remaining product. Let sit for a bit. Flush with some more alcohol. Then set the bottle upside down to dry completely. Then we fill it up with whatever it is that needs storing. The two ounce bottles make sizes for travel kits and we can store anything from olive oil or coconut oil for skin and hair to shampoo for trips to our favorite home remedies for skin. Delaying the recycling by reusing the bottle really helps Mother Earth.

PET is less expensive than a comparable glass container, weighs less than glass, and recycles well. PET bottles and jars are a good option for storing products containing essential oils because it has a high permeability resistance rating (less leaks than some other plastics). Sunlight can accelerate the expiration of your essential oils. Some sources recommend using dark amber or cobalt blue colored bottles.
Plastic containers, specifically PET, have been shown to store some products containing essential oils remarkably well. In many cases, essential oils are added to lotions or other products. When mixed with a lotion, for example, the essential oil’s potency is diluted. Its capacity to infuse the lotion with aroma is not diminished, but its capacity to damage plastic and rubber is.

Water is natural too but is usually used in personal lubricants because it is dirt cheap and it will dilute the product so the amount of product looks larger. Bela, the inventor of It’s Nirvana, started formulating creams and oils over 20 years ago. After some time she suffered a serious back injury. Remembering her childhood and her grandmother’s remedies made in her kitchen and sold to many satisfied customers, Bela set her mind to developing a deep penetrating treatment from natural oils, essential oils, and herbal infusions.
